Reducing the signs of ageing
Qsilica PRO COLLAGEN reduces the signs of ageing by preventing your skin from losing moisture and promoting collagen production.
Dry skin is characterised by feelings of itching and tugging. Since it has lost its elasticity and softness, it becomes uncomfortable and rough. Dry skin, reactive and sensitive and can have redness and fine lines.
Qsilica PRO COLLAGEN is a dietary supplement providing natural plant ceramides to help restore the skin’s barrier function and restores moisture content.
Ceramides are lipids which are very important for skin biology. These key constituents of the skin account for 35 to 40% of the “intercellular cement” that composes the skin’s barrier and play an important role in maintaining skin hydration. Lipowheat™ is a natural wheat seed extract containing a complex of ceramides and DGDG (digalactosyl diglycerides) obtained through gentle extraction. Oral supplementation of plant-ceramides such as Lipowheat™ improves skin hydration, reduced inflammation and helps restore compromised barrier function.
Collagen is a protein that occurs naturally in the body and is comprised of amino acids in a triple helix sequence. Collagen is found in all of our connective tissues, such as skin, bones, tendons, and ligaments, and also provides for the structural integrity of all of our internal organs.
Collagen occurs in many places throughout the body. Over 90% of the collagen in the body is collagen Type I. Type 1 collagen is found in skin, bone, organs and tendons. Aside from type 1, there are 27 different types of collagen that have been identified. These other types of collagens have slightly different amino acid compositions and provide other specific functions in our bodies.
Qsilica PRO COLLAGEN is a dietary supplement containing Colloidal Mineral Silica, Vitamin C and Lipowheat. All of these nutrients play a role in collagen production and/or protection. Silicon is required for the proper function of prolyl hydroxylase, an enzyme which is responsible for the formation of collagen in bone and elastine, cartilage other connective tissues. Vitamin C is essential for the production of collagen and pre-collagen.
Vitamin C also increases the rate of collagen production in the body. However, it does not have an influence over the rate of synthesis of other proteins in the body - suggesting a special relationship between vitamin C and collagen synthesis. In-vitro studies of Lipowheat demonstrated that it increased the synthesis of collagen and protected against elastase and collegenase (enzymes that break down collagen and elastin in the body) in cells.
